Raya is a branding project for new period pad science!
New technology has made it possible for young girls without clean water to wash their sanitary products. The film on the pad uses the sun to kill 99.9% of bacteria. All that is needed is water (clean or dirty) and 2 hours out in nature. This is the first step to getting girls back in school.
1 million girls in Kenya miss school each month
RAYA is about a brighter future for these young girls. Periods are a taboo in Kenya which leads to poor education on the subject, so by bringing local patterns and cultures into the product, we hope to bring connection to the matter.
